Second Day of 4-H Day Camp

Good evening everyone, this week has been nothing but amazing and I am so glad that I came back for my 3rd time! Today, we took the campers to see iguanas’ habitats and they learned so much valuable information that will help them improve their communities. After the iguanas we went to lunch, which was a blast. But, the best part was saved for last. After lunch, we took the campers to the beach, which may not sound special because they live in a country where the beach is in their back yard. However, due to all the industrialization and economic growth the Dominican Republic is going through they are not able to see the beaches. What I mean by this is, the resorts and the government control who is able to go to the beaches, so for citizens of the Dominican Republic they cannot just walk to the beach anytime they want. This is sad to hear, but very much true. So long story short, the beach trip is the most unique experience on this trip because of how much it means to the camper. Next up tomorrow is the trash pickup in the campers community so we will keep everyone in touch!
