Today we actually started the 4-H Day Camp for the first time. There were more than 50 Dominican kids and just a few bilingual translators but that’s
where the fun was. Trying to communicate anything turns into charades when you
only know a few Spanish words but it’s interesting seeing what does and doesn’t
work. We tie-dyed shirts and took a tour to see the honeybees, then later toured a
preservation habitat for the native Ridgeway hawks of the island, which are similar to our bald eagle. Overall I am very excited for tomorrow and everything
yet to come on the trip.
